We've now passed Bread #23 so...
« on: October 01, 2010, 04:21:02 PM »
We have some 84 breads to make in this little challenge and we've now made it beyond Bread #23. So let's reflect a little.

What bread has stood out for you? Which one's been the most amazing, best tasting, or most challenging, one you learned something new from or maybe one you think really fell short. Any bread throw you for a loop, or surprised you?

Here are the breads we've made so far, for your viewing pleasure and to help jog your memory:

My favorites so far:
Rustic bread
Bialys

Least favorites: I have to agree with Andrea! Beer bread and soft butter rolls.

I've been shocked by how much I've loved all of his ryes, having never been a fan of rye breads in the past.

I agree - rustic, five-grain, and the ryes have been my favourites.

Least? Well, I prefer PR's bagels.. and the same-day baguette lacked any real wow-factor.

The one that was the most new for me was the bialys recipe. Yum!

I can't believe we are already a quarter way through the book! We rock.  pompom

Favourites:

Rustic bread, light rye, 5 grain, the corn bread, the vermont with increased grain is now my standard sourdough default recipe and I would never have attempted bagels without this forum so I guess the bagels have to be in there too, I liked the baguettes with paté fermentée, and I learnt Abby's pizza dough recipe so that is in there.

Least favourite, the beer bread and the grissini.   Hey Natashya I can't believe we're skipping through this book either

I have found this fascinating, to first do the BBA challenge and now the bread challenge.  The differences in technique and kneading and descriptions.

I prefer the metric system to be used for ever and ever.  I believe I have stated this already, but no one is listening.

The VT sourdough is one of my favorites, the corn bread was tasty and the challah was great fun to bread.  I gave the beer bread to a friend of mine who makes beer and he loved it but I won't make it again.
