Oggi's Beer Bread Update: Post is Up

The post is up


I used Guinness Extra Stout and as expected I find the bread slightly bitter from the beer. I never liked drinking beer. I can't stand the smell and I was feeling a little nauseous while mixing the dough inhaling whatever it is that I don't like about beer.

But the bread is actually delicious and has a hint of sweetness. I like that it is chewy and has a caramelly although beery flavor. When I took a bite of the bread topped with my Chicken Faux Gras (chicken liver pate), I was delightfully surprised. The flavors go perfectly together. OMG. Yummy!

the bottom is slightly burnt

I had seen your blog post first, but now, after seeing this,  I know for sure that I like that bread.

Funny that you feel that way about beer.  My father gave me some as a child, but then I did not taste it until I was 17 years old.  I had a sip of a warm Schlitz (not a particularly good beer at that point) and my eyes nearly rolled out the back of my head.  Loved it.  Still do, but can't drink it much now for medical reasons.

But I can still taste it in my dreams.  And add it to bread!

Thanks for the beautiful post, I am inspired now.

Mmm I love chicken liver pate... are we allowed to ask for your recipe?  :P   Sounds like a wonderful rich combination of flavours together with your Guinness Extra Stout beauty there  pompom  What did you do for the roasted barley in the end?

Just seen the recipe on your blog -  I'm going to give it a go. It looks a-mazing  :woot:
