A word to us from Jeffrey Hamelman
« on: May 10, 2010, 06:24:46 PM »
I've received an email from Mr Hamelman and thought I'd share a couple of tidbits he passed regarding our effort on MellowBakers.com.

Quote from: Jeffrey Hamelman
... there has been an incredible amount of baker evolution over the past several years, much of which is due to the robust discussions that take place on the internet, and on behalf of all the eager bakers out there, I hope your group will continue to generate discussions about all matters related to bread.

... As for my thoughts on your baking through all the book's formulas, that of course is very flattering to me.

But in a larger sense the most hoped for result of all that effort is that you all become better bakers, more intimate with the lovely subtle world of bread. It's about the bread and not about the book. Bread has an amazing way of enriching us in ways way beyond the nutrition and pleasure it offers. Somehow it gets us right at the source point of our DNA.

And you are all in the midst of that experience. How wonderful is that?

Not only a great baker and teacher but eloquent as well.

Thank you, sir, for the recipes, the guidance and the inspiration.

I used to think I was indecisive, but now I'm not so sure.

How cool is that?!! He sounds so sincere and excited about exciting others. I love it!

I'm back, almost on normal life schedule. I decided I would indulge in the vacationing state of mind for one more week.  pompom

I should tell you that I've not lost my yeast. As a matter of fact, I started on the bagels this morning. They're proofing in the fridge even as I type. Full report to come shortly.
Cookingly yours, Anamaris
