Getting a copy of The Handmade Loaf

Postby Paul » Sat Feb 04, 2012 12:03 pm

If you want to join the Group Bake, you will need to have a copy of the book we'll be using.

A couple of points on that:
1) The Handmade Loaf is the UK version of Dan Lepard's book.
Those in the UK can click here to pick up a copy from
Your UK copy will look like this:

2) Outside of the UK, the book is typically the North American version, retitled "The Art of Handmade bread"

Please click here to be directed to an Amazon website specific to your country.
Your Non-UK copy will look like this:

(Click on the "Art Of" book cover on the linked page
and the script will choose the best Amazon store for you automagically!)

These books are basically the same except the "Art Of" version includes cups and ounces and a few references are geared more towards American bakers. Either version includes gram weights for all ingredients.

On Feb 3, 2012, the prices for these books showed as:

UK: £9.68
USA: $13.10
Canada: $14.40
Europe: EUR 12,99
There's also a version that was translated to Spanish: EUR 22.81

If you do not have the book, it will be rather difficult to bake the recipes (we will not be posting the recipes on the boards, as requested by Dan Lepard himself), however Amazon is pretty darn fast and reliable in their delivery so you can probably get your own copy in just a few days.

Keep in mind, however, that we're MELLOW here so you can still join in the baking even if you jump in a bit further in the process or want to do breads from a previous month. Whatever will best work for you works great for us too!
When you think about it, all galaxies are far, far, away.
