Mal has moved

Just to let anyone know my Rye Smile bread blog has reached its limit. I am now posting bread and gardening entries at Mal's Edinburgh Allotment:

Hope to see you there!

Re: #18 Lemon Barley Cob

Too sweet - too white - not trying this one.

Did a great 100% wholemeal, 100% sourdough, 100% spelt loaf today - there's no going back!

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eYdwBSDPLIY/UFd14irwV1I/AAAAAAAACwg/5K8hQ7-aK6U/s1600/IMG_3638.JPG Guess what I forgot to slash my loaf. It might have been because I was preparing the Onion and Bay Loaf hot on the heel of this one. You can tell I cut this loaf before it cooled properly. It's a great tast...

Black Isle Brewery's (Organic) Porter

While I waited for the barm to develop, and so that we had bread in the meantime, I made ale bread with the rest of the bottle!

Mostly I prefer to drink the ale but it is worth trying different things with your bread.

I was even more please with this next one too: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ybiK7W_mvzc/UDKi...

Blini

To date I've relied on Delia for my blini recipe (and bumped up the buckwheat to about 50%) but Dan Lepard's blini are 100% buckwheat - part buckwheat groats (kasha) and part buckwheat flour - would it work? Well aside from sticking like hell when I tried the first one on a griddle (after which I sw...

Mal's White Thyme Bread - Apent Style

Dan Lepard's White Thyme Bread turns out to be a version of the bread demonstrated on the Hairy Bikers Bakation trip to Norway's Apent Bakeri http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rb8nmHS8Qh8/UDAJVq2Tl1I/AAAAAAAACok/1kjFJF3G7AQ/s1600/IMG_3471.JPG I have to admit to borrowing from both in order to adapt the proc...
