After a few internet searches, I figured out what you meant by Bermaline, as I had never heard of it.

The few times we ate store-bought bread, we would have Wonderbread, Roman Meal or 'Hillbilly' bread.  (Honest, that was a trade name.)

Oh, and I remember a bread called Cholmondley's Olde English Muffin Bread, (pronounced Chum- lees) that was deemed "too expense for such a little loaf"!

I am amazed at the cleanup jobs!  Was it just elbow grease, or did you have a friend with pneumatic power tools?

Congratulations on getting this prize, and kudo's on the restoration job!

Actually this tin/pan was not so much of a job to clean as the Hovis tins, see enclosed picture,
My husband did both jobs, he is such a luv...    some times..;-))))
Bermaline bread is/was a malted bread with a high content of wheat germ in it, can't remember the cost
 of it...... qahtan

Great clean up job.  :D So the 64 dollar question now is:  upside down or right side up, which way is the tin going to go in the oven?  The pictures in the adverts for bermaline look to me as if the bread tin goes in upside down.... as the bread is narrower at the top and there is that little airhole in the bottom of the tin... anyway it's all good fun!  I'm pleased I navigated ebay to get it to you. I think there is still one for sale if anyone else wants to join in the bermaline revival with Qahtan and me.

I couldn't resist. I ordered the pan. The selling guy was so nice to deliver to Germany, can't wait to clean it.

Now if we could get a recipe that the finished tastes right......also how much dough to put in pan.......
the finished loaf looked like it was completely enclosed in the pan while baking, it was pan smooth top and bottom....
and had a slight very slight sweetness to it.

This is my best so far, taste is good, maybe a tiny tad sweeter, but not bad as is. texture also not bad but will be able to tell when really cold tomorrow. Shape though not quite right at the bottom but not bad, even if the Bermaline didn't come out to clear,,  Wlil have to work on it.. ;-))))  qahtan
