My hot cross buns
« on: March 22, 2012, 06:34:49 PM »
I had a go at baking the hot cross buns this evening. As the Handmade Loaf group aren’t starting till next month, I decided to bake Dan Lepard’s hot cross buns, from his earlier book, Baking With Passion, alongside as a comparison.

Hamelman on the left and Lepard on the right.

Nice blog post throup, I really like the comparison.
Piping bags are indeed not very easy to work with if you're not used to them, I don't even have one :) I used a plastic freezer bag and cut off one end, that also works very well for filling canneloni.

Your crossing paste looks a lot better than mine, nice job!
I will try them again next weekend (I hope), didn't have time for that today or yesterday.
